Lisa Cook is earning her Masters in Social Work at Ohio State University. Lisa’s passion for supporting the social and emotional health of older adults and her sister’s glowing recommendation of CaringMatters’ volunteer training led her to join CaringMatters as a field experience intern.

Lisa earned her Bachelor’s degree from the University of California Santa Barbara, Juris Doctor from Ohio State University, and Masters in Education from George Mason University. As a Career Counselor and Trainer at the US Department of Labor, she offered career coaching and career development workshops to Federal employees all over the country. As Walden University’s first Director of Career Services, she built the Career Center’s team and services, developed and hosted workshops and webinars, published several career development articles, and hosted a TEDx talk on her community building efforts.

During Covid quarantine, Lisa landed her first job in social health with Secure Senior Connections, our country’s first online nationwide senior center.  Lisa hosted 150 Zoom events for older adults to safely socialize, including Sunday Socials, book club meetings, birthday celebrations, and educational programs. Those experiences sparked the pursuit of her MSW degree.
