About the event
Constant exposure to the news of disasters and tragedies gives many people pause and a sense of empathy for those affected. For those coping with grief, these news and social media stories penetrate much closer to home. Grieving is hard enough without the constant reminders and bombardment of sad and tragic streams of media.
This program will discuss:
• how media exposure can complicate the grieving process
• ways to cope or help others cope with the stream of the 24 hour news and communication cycles
• skills and strategies for those grieving
• finding the balance between living in our current world and engaging in the support and self-care needed following a loss.
