Welcome Our New Staff and AmeriCorps Members


Zema Meseretu, AnneMarie SImon, and Maria Alvarez

We are excited to welcome a new permanent staff member to our CaringMatters family, along with two new AmeriCorps members who will work with us for the next year.


Maria Alvarez joins our staff as the new Office Manager/Administrative Volunteer Coordinator. Maria brings extensive nonprofit project management experience to her new position. In addition, her personal experience as a family caregiver and her bilingual and bi-cultural background, will allow her to positively impact CaringMatters, our volunteers, and our clients.


We are also excited to welcome two new AmeriCorps member, AnneMarie Simon and Zema Meseretu, who will be serving as full time staff members at CaringMatters for their year of service to AmeriCorps.


AnneMarie, an AmeriCorps Project CHANGE member, will be working in Children’s Bereavement Services with Good Grief Clubs, Family Nights, and Camp Erin. A recent graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park, AnneMarie has extensive experience with youth-focused nonprofit organizations.


Zema Meseretu, an AmeriCorps member serving with Volunteer Maryland, will be working in communications and marketing with a specific focus on volunteer recruitment and community outreach. She will also be serving as the Camp Erin Administrator. Zema, a graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park, has a strong background in nonprofit communications, in the areas of domestic violence awareness and education.
