C. Brandon Brewer

Brandon Brewer joined CaringMatters as the Director of Adult Bereavement Services in 2023. Brandon possesses over two decades of diverse professional experience in pastoral care & counseling, spiritual care, and support for families experiencing grief and loss. He gained expertise in bereavement support, volunteer training/coordination and community education/training in a variety of settings including hospitals and hospice.  In his various roles, he has provided education, coaching, and mentoring on end-of-life care and bereavement, served as a community college adjunct faculty member and as a guest lecturer for local, regional, and national conferences.

 

“My personal experiences with grief and loss inform my practice of providing a deep abiding presence to those who are bereaved and experiencing grief and loss,” said Brandon. “I look forward to working with CaringMatters’ dedicated staff and volunteers to provide the community with the compassionate support they need as they face increasingly complicated grief and seek a healing path forward.”

 

Brandon holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of South Alabama, a Master of Divinity degree from Columbia Theological Seminary and a Specialty Certificate in Palliative Care Chaplaincy from the University of California at San Marcos.  Currently, he is enrolled in a doctoral program in Pastoral Care & Counseling at Gardner-Webb University. In addition, he is a Certified End-of-Life Specialist and a Fellow in Thanatology: Death, Dying and Bereavement through the Association for Death Education and Counseling (ADEC). Brandon is currently serving as the Chair/Leader for the Spiritual Caregiver Professional Community of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization and MyNHPCO.
