Alexis Leonard joined CaringMatters in January 2026 as Chief Operating Officer, bringing more than 13 years of nonprofit leadership experience across operations, finance, fundraising, and strategic planning. She is a collaborative leader with a passion for building strong internal systems and aligning organizational infrastructure with mission and impact. 

 

 Before joining the team at CaringMatters, Alexis was Executive Director of Great and Small, where she led a period of significant growth by strengthening financial systems, increasing fundraising results, and guiding the board of directors through the organization's first comprehensive strategic plan. Prior to leading a nonprofit, Alexis spent nearly a decade dedicated to nonprofit fundraising at national and regional organizations including  Children’s National Health System and American Farmland Trust, and most recently worked as a philanthropic consultant supporting nonprofits and public agencies with fundraising strategy, governance, and financial best practices.
