We're Hiring! CaringMatters is currently accepting applications for two positions:

Chief Operating Officer and Director of Adult Bereavement Services.


CaringMatters is seeking a well-organized, detail-oriented, full-time Chief Operating Officer to oversee all operational and administrative functions that support CM’s mission, values and vision as articulated in the goals and strategies of CM’s Three-Year Strategic Plan. Areas of responsibility include finance, human resources, information technology, fund development, and general office operations and facilities. The COO is part of the Senior Leadership Team along with the CEO and the Chief Communications Officer. In addition to collaborating with and supervising other employees, the COO also works closely with administrative volunteers. This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in health administration, nonprofit management, finance, HR or related field and 5+ years of experience in nonprofit administration. Master’s Degree preferred.


CaringMatters is also seeking a well-organized, detail-oriented, Director of Adult Bereavement Services, who will be responsible for the management and coordination of support programs and services for adults who are grieving the death of a loved one. Current programs include both remote and in-person bereavement support groups, a weekend-long, bereaved caregivers’ retreat, Tree-of-Love memorial ceremony, and community workshops and presentations. All programs and services target Montgomery County residents. The Director is expected to work to expand the number of people served and create new programs in response to unmet needs with a particular focus on racially/ethnically diverse and/or low income residents. This position requires a Bachelor’s degree, with a Master’s preferred, in counseling, social work, thanatology or related field.


With the awarding of the federal Community Care Corps grant to CaringMatters, we are also hiring for the new full-time position of Senior Director, Patient and Caregiver Services. The Senior Director for Patient and Caregiver Services is responsible for the management and delivery of programs and services for people who are seriously ill, especially those where there is a poor prognosis, and their family members, especially those with primary caregiving responsibilities. Current programs include home visiting to provide companionship, practical nonmedical support and transportation to medical and social services; caregiver support groups, bereaved caregiver retreat, and community resource navigation. Volunteers deliver most of the services under the supervision of program staff. All programs and services target Montgomery County residents. The Director is expected to work to expand the number of people served and create new programs in response to unmet needs with a particular focus on racially/ethnically and other diverse communities and/or low-income residents. This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree, with a Master’s preferred, in a human services-related field and a minimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit program management, social services, or healthcare; ideally related to serious illness and aging. Experience in working with people with serious illness and their families and understanding of related palliative and hospice care services is preferred. Bilingual or multiple language proficiency is also a plus.
